The Weekend

October 19th 2012

What: The Weekend
When: October 19-21
Where: Everywhere in London

As it get colder and nights draw in you’ll notice more indoor activities but before we kick off, two outdoor ones first. The big thing this weekend is the Bloomsbury Festival – expect music, food and art. Also on Saturday is the Nigerian Carnival in Kennington Park, more food, more music, no art. Info is a tad sketchy on the website but it promises to be good. The strangely named Dead Dolls Club opens tonight in Dalston (where else) - food, music, drink and design. If you’re a fan of Anthony Sinclair’s suits in the James Bond movies, you’ll appreciate the new Hollywood Costume event at the V&A – 3 galleries of outfits from your favourite movies from Wizard of Oz to Batman, clothes, no food, no drink. One of the most intriguing things happening this weekend is The Battle of Ideas happening at The Barbican – a series of debates on concepts such as atheism and freedom. MP David Lammy and loaded guy Mo Ibrahim are billed as speakers, no food, no drink, no music.  Favourite event has to be the three day literary festival organised by the Royal National Institute of the Blind with Alice of Wonderland as the theme – books, no drinks, no music.
