The Weekend

November 23rd 2012

What: The Weekend
When: November 23rd to 25th
Where: Everywhere in London

This weekend, a Bespokecity favourite, For the Love of Mic is on tonight – the theme is Movember and dodgy ‘taches. Think of your favourite rappers with dodgy moustaches – that’s the soundtrack for the night. At UCL, the topic of today’s Bite-Sized Lecture is “My Dear Lady, Why not be a Nurse” a discussion on 19th century female medical missionaries. There’s also a talk on the Brain’s Security Guards in Health and Disease. It’s the night street market in Hackney tonight – 16 traders selling everything from apple hot dogs to thai fried rice to jerk chicken to bhangra burger, go straight from work and it stay till 12 midnight when it finishes.  A new late night lounge opened earlier this month courtesy of Hakkasan – Ling Ling offers drinks, dim sum and DJs playing lounge (boom boom) music.  The Hand Sale is a pop-up shopping fair at the 20th Century Theatre on Westbourne Grove. Jewellery, cashmere, cushions and a lot more are on sale by specially chosen, small independent merchants.  The London Remixed Festival in three different venues has Africa Rootmaster in Rich Mix, Gypsy music at the Bedroom Bar and Latin music at the Village Underground.  Finally we absolutely love The Other Art Fair at Westminster University because you can speak to the artists and negotiate what price you wish to pay for their work. In conjunction with this will be The Other Art Fair Unplugged with live acoustic music.
