Whitfield Street

What: Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia
When: Anytime
Where: Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia

Recommending a whole street may seem strange to the uninitiated but Whitfield Street in Fitzrovia really holds many hidden gems. If you get off at the Goodge Street end, go to Crazy Bear - with a bar downstairs with little enclaves and a restaurant upstairs. The place has no sign on the front so take it from us that it's 26-28 Whitfield Street. A little walk down the road is Dabbous, the new kid on the block, the restaurant everyone (Fay Maschler review helped) is going on about. It recently received a Michelin star so may be pretty hard to get into. Two doors down is Pollock's Toy Museum, with an Egyptian clay mouse dating back to 2000 BC (apparently). This is officially on Scala Street but as this is connected to Whitfied Street we'll throw it in. The Warren Street end at number 110 gives you the wild and wonderful Archipelago, a restaurant where you can eat seared zebra or marinated kangaroo should you wish. Pan fried locusts are also on the menu. For something a little more normal, go to Sardo Cucina - an Italian deli at 112.
